How are trophies engraved?
Most trophies carry an engraved plate rather than engraving on the trophy body itself. The plate — usually brass, aluminium or acrylic — is engraved or printed separately and then fixed to the base. That is why trophies can be ordered in advance and personalised close to the event.
Crystal and acrylic awards are different: they are engraved directly, either on the surface by laser or inside the block by sub-surface laser. Direct engraving is permanent and cannot be changed, so the name list has to be final before production.
