Saddle stitched
Stapled through the spine fold; economical and the standard for lower page counts.
Booklet printing in Mumbai — saddle stitched, wire-o and perfect bound booklets, manuals, reports and programme books in A4, A5 and custom sizes.
Booklets are what you print when the content will not fit on a folded sheet — training manuals, annual reports, event programmes, product handbooks, school magazines and company profiles.
The two decisions that shape the whole job are page count and binding, and they interact. Getting them settled before design begins saves a great deal of rework, because a saddle-stitched booklet must have a page count divisible by four.
Saddle stitching — staples through the spine fold — is the standard for booklets up to a moderate page count. It lies reasonably flat, costs least, and is what most programme books, newsletters and short reports use.
Once the page count grows, saddle stitching stops working: the inner pages push outward and the trim becomes uneven. At that point perfect binding, with a glued flat spine, is both neater and more durable. Wire-o is the choice when a document must open flat and stay open — training manuals, recipe books and reference guides.

Each option is priced differently. Tell us how the item will be used and we will recommend one.

A manual that must lie flat needs wire-o; a report that sits on a shelf needs a printed spine.
Text showing through from the reverse page is a paper problem. We recommend weight accordingly.
Send pages in reading order — arranging them into printing sequence is our job, not yours.
We flag a saddle-stitched page count that is not divisible by four before design is finalised.
Booklet cost is driven by page count first, then quantity, size, paper and binding. Adding four pages is cheaper than adding a binding upgrade, so if content is close to a page-count boundary it is usually better to expand slightly than to compress.
Ordering in bulk? Booklets in volume are an offset job with a significant setup component. If you produce the same booklet annually, tell us — the file setup carries over and reprints become considerably simpler.
A straightforward process with an approval step before anything is printed.

Because each sheet of paper folded in half produces four pages — two on each side. If your content comes to 14 pages, the booklet will be printed as 16 with two blank or filler pages.
There is no fixed number; it depends on paper thickness. As the page count rises, the inner pages of a saddle-stitched booklet push outward and the fore-edge trim eats into the inner margins. Tell us your page count and paper and we will advise.
On perfect-bound and hard-cover booklets, yes, once the spine is thick enough to carry legible text. Saddle-stitched booklets have a folded spine with no flat surface to print on.
Higher GSM and better opacity. For text-heavy documents printed both sides, 90 to 100 GSM is usually enough; for image-heavy pages, heavier art paper is better. We will recommend based on your content.
